A great, fresh-smelling alternative to harsh store-bought hand sanitizers!  This is the recipe that Floracopeia staff is using right now.

  • 1/4 Cup Aloe Vera Gel
  • 1 TBS Isopropyl Alcohol (we used 91% alcohol, use a bit more if you have a lower percentage rubbing alcohol)
  • 1 TSP Vegetable Glycerin (please use certified non-GMO sourced from coconuts)
  • 1-2 TBS Colloidal Silver (amount depends on desired consistency)
  • 10-20 drops of Legends Essential Oil Blend

Mix aloe and alcohol well, then add in the glycerin and essential oil until well incorporated.  Stir in the colloidal silver until you are happy with the consistency.  Put into an empty pump dispenser or gel tube.  A little dab of the sanitizer goes a long way!

Need a less intense version for children or someone who is extra sensitive?  Simply omit the alcohol and replace the Legends Blend with 3-5 drops each of Tea Tree and Lemon!  Always spot check on skin and wait 24hrs before using any product with essential oils for the first time, particularly on the sensitive.

Our hand sanitizer recipe is gentle and boosted by the addition of essential oils and colloidal silver.  We highly recommend this gentle version, but if you’d like to go stronger simply increase the alcohol to 60% of your entire recipe.  Amount of alcohol you need to use will depend on what the percentage is on your bottle of rubbing alcohol.  You may find yourself needing to decrease your essential oil concentration with a stronger alcohol base, so have fun and experiment, carefully testing to make sure it’s not too strong for your skin.

Remember, wash your hands frequently with soap and water!  Hand sanitizer is not a replacement for good hand washing hygiene.
